Just like Him, there are different persons in me. There is the human version that walks on Earth, trying to do the best I can for myself and others each day. There is a deeply connected, spiritual version that speaks in a deep voice and always knows what to do. There is also an energy that dwells somewhere—I can’t quite tell you where—because as the energy flows from my head to my heart, to my legs, to my stomach, I learn as I let myself be guided.
The Trinity—Father, Son, and Spirit—each have a place in our lives; each One has a purpose. It has always been a priority in my walk to nurture my relationship with each. My relationship with the Father is nurtured through my writing, devotional time, and prayer life. My relationship with the Son is nurtured through my walk and my mission work.
This weekend, on a fun family trip into the city, my children and I visited my old church. This church will always be special to me because it was there that I was able to hear His call. The service starts with a few gospel songs, designed to get you pumped up. They also choose one to help you get centered and connected. It was during those songs that I heard the Spirit.
He said the softest and sweetest words I could ever hear: We haven’t talked in a while.
It broke me into a million pieces. He was right. Between serving in ministry and writing devotionals, being a mom, and working hard on my purpose—I had forgotten Him.
