Day 9 - Let's Read the Bible Together - Jan 9th, 2025

Jac

ob left to live with his uncle Laban. There he marries Leah and Rachel. He worked for Laban for fourteen years in exchange for his wives (Genesis 29). Leah was able to give him children immediately, but Rachel was struggling. He also had children with his wives’ servants (Genesis 30). He had twelve sons and one daughter in total. These twelve children later become the twelve tribes of Israel.

• Leah - Jacob's first wife. She bore seven of Jacob's children, including Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun. She also had a daughter named Dinah

• Rachel - Jacob's second wife. She bore two sons, Joseph and Benjamin.

• Bilhah - Jacob's concubine. She bore Dan and Naphtali.

• Zilpah - Jacob's concubine. She bore Gad and Asher.

Jacob was tired of working for his uncle. He had worked for Laban for 20 years. He wanted his own household. He decided to flee in the middle of the night, a coward’s decision. This enraged Laban (Genesis 31). Laban sets off after Jacob. When he approaches Jacob, they decide to make peace. Laban has the opportunity to say his goodbyes to his daughters and grandchildren.

Psalm 8 is about how amazing God is. The writer looks at the stars and wonders why God cares so much about people. God made us special, even though we are small in this big world.

Psalm 9 is a cheerful song of thanks to God. God helps and protects us when we're in trouble. He is fair and makes everything right. Important to note: right according to His will, is not always right in our eyes.
